Polestar Technologies has won two contracts with the Department of Defense to develop CO2 sensors to save the lives of military personnel

Polestar Technologies, a leader in sensor research and technology development, has won two contracts with the Department of Defense to develop CO2 sensors to save the lives of military personnel. The Army contract supports the development of a "Noninvasive CO2 Sensor for Controlling Ventilation in Combat Casualties." The Navy program supports the development of a "New Real-time CO2 Monitor for Diver Masks." The lead scientist for both programs is Dr. James Kane, a nationally recognized expert in optical sensors. According to Dr. Kane "These programs are an opportunity for Polestar to transition what we have learned in one program to another for the benefit of the national defense." The two contracts provide $644K for this important work.
Polestar Technologies' R&D programs focus on sensor technology and have grown significantly in the last few years. Previous contracts with NASA and NIH provided for the development of oxygen and pH sensors that Polestar then invested in and brought to the commercial market. With the addition of the CO2 sensor the company has an ideal suite of sensors for the biopharmaceutical, food and beverage, brewing, bio-fuel, environmental and pure water markets.
